Katie Hogan | Principal Arborist

Meet Katie Hogan, the owner and principal of Cascara Tree Consulting. With over 12 years of expertise in forestry and arboriculture, Katie is a dedicated professional and curious individual who is constantly learning about arborist services and tree management. Having previously served as a municipal arborist, she brings a wealth of experience in urban forestry and sustainable tree management practices. She loves teaching and discussing trees, whether while working or hiking with friends and family. Beyond her passion for trees, Katie enjoys spending quality time with her husband and their dog, Queso. A true Pacific Northwest enthusiast, she can often be found camping, hiking, and embracing all the outdoor adventures that make the region so unique. 

Education: Bachelor's, University of Washington (2012), Program on the Environment. 

Certifications: ISA Certified Arborist (PN-8078A), Qualified Tree Risk Assessor.

Megan Roy | Associate Arborist

 Megan Roy is a consulting arborist and project manager with a strong background in municipal urban forestry and development-focused tree consulting. With experience spanning the Northeast and the Intermountain West, she brings a broad perspective to tree preservation and development to the Pacific Northwest. She has worked across diverse climates, species compositions, and regulatory environments, providing her with adaptable, climate-informed insight.


She brings hands-on experience across a wide range of projects, from residential tree risk assessments to complex construction monitoring and permitting support. Megan is known for translating technical arboricultural findings into clear, practical guidance for homeowners, developers, and public agencies. Her collaborative, solutions-oriented approach helps balance tree preservation with project goals. She is passionate about thoughtful development and long-term urban canopy stewardship, striving to create solutions that support both healthy trees and successful projects.


Beyond work, Megan enjoys yoga, birdwatching, and gardening, and values time outdoors with her partner and dogs, staying active through biking, skiing, kayaking, rock climbing, and volleyball.


Education: Bachelor's, Green Mountain College (2016), Natural Resources Management  

Certifications: ISA Certified Arborist (UT-4622A), Qualified Tree Risk Assessor

Queso

Queso is a valuable employee of CTC, where Katie is actively training her to be a good field dog. Queso enjoys the company of squirrels and rabbits during long walks on the beach, all while appreciating different types of cheese.
